Help! DRL re-wire!
Hey all...
Sorry if I am posting the same question again... but I am trying to find out if I can re-wire my DRL.
I have a 2006 Canadian F150 Supercrew that has stock DRL. Now I bought a replacement pair of projector fog lights with an LED halo. Now because I have HID lights for my regular beams I am looking to move the DRL from my headlights to the halo in the fog light.
Does anyone have any tips or warnings or anything on how to wire them to the DRL?

Send me the model of the lights and I might be able to help. The DRL is easy to reroute, what's tricky is if that foglight halow assembly doesn't allow you to split the halos (not sure).
I've made it so I can switch my DRL's to my fog lights (full - I don't have halo's) or to my headlights. *Depending* where you connect it you may have to get fancier... For example, my DRL's are my foglights (when I put the switch on) however when I turn my headlamps on I want the DRL's off (if on fogs). So I have a relay to kick them back out. I can still manually turn them on with the factory switch and I've added a switch to turn them on while in high beam (so I can control them independently). In your case, you may want those Halo's lit up on DRL mode but then when you turn the highbeams on you want them to kick off (or maybe you don't care). It's not super difficult to do and you can do it with a relay or two (I can draw up the diagram when I have more info).
The DRL resistor you may have found is located in the front. The resistor limits the power to 80% (doesn't matter for HID's though). I've bypassed the resistor to get 100% power and you would likely in this application as well. I just don't know if you can separate the halos on your lights?

Yeah that sounds perfect really... The model of the lights is hard because it's just some weird (probably knockoff) brand... These are the ones here that I got...

That's pretty much exactly what I want to do... but keep the halos on all the time...
I have found the resistor that's for the DRL and disconnected it.

I'll see if I can find more for you tomorrow but it looks like the purple wire might be the one you're after. From the pictures it looks like the white wire is the main light, purple is the halo, then the blacks are obviously grounds. Right now you can't control the halo separate of the light, correct? It's just all on?

Sorry to hijack your thread DnChrist but its on the same topic. Is there a quick and easy way to disable the DRL completely. I hadn't even really thought of this until seeing this thread but I bought a Canadian truck and I'm in the US and do not need them. I intend to put in Silverstar or Nighthawk or similar bulbs and no need to have the DRL shortening there life span. This and only have kilometers on odometer is the only negatives I have from buying cross border.

The easiest way is to pull the DRL Relay from the under hood fuse box on the drivers side. Otherwise you can take out the DRL resistor in the front of the truck.

Yeah Homer is right. YOu can pull the relay, or what's easier is to pull the resistor cable that's hidden on the left hand side somewhat behind the light...

Oh! You don't have the halos hooked up at all??? This is easy then. Basically unplug the resistor as you have. One side of the connector provides positive 12 volt power. You may need a meter or I can look it up later. You'll take a wire, connect it to that +12v then hook it to the halo positive.
Here is a catch though! The DRL system on these aren't very well designed. So when you then the headlights on the DRL still stays powered. So your halos would stay lit which you may not want. I can draw you up a diagram after which would use a relay to prevent that if you'd like?
