Default Removing chrome rocker panel

I recently bought a 2005 F150 SCREW and the relative I bought it from took the liberty off adding as much aftermarket chrome as possible. I have removed the plastic chrome that was on the handles, window visor, bugshield, side view mirrors, headlights, taillights, fender trim, and gas tank. However there are chrome rocker panels. It looks like it is on there pretty good.
Anyone removed this stuff? I have an eraser wheel and 3m solvent remover. I am planning to take a heat gun and warm it up and see if I cant get started on that.

Just not sure how much damage it might due to the paint underneath once it is all removed?
Any ideas or experience with this?

I would go with a hairdryer and peel it up with a wood shim... You should not have any damage to the paint, however, you will have to buff and wax it afterwards. I do know when I have removed sticky crap, I have had to use WD-40 to remove residue.

my truck has the chrome door handles and mirrors. they're on there really good. how did you get them off without damaging? i've heard people saying they actually made it worse when they removed the chrome, but i think i willing to take a chance b/c i hate the way they look so much. thanks

I used a clip puller (you could use a small screwdriver) and leveraged them off. Just pry them off but be careful around glass or vulnerable plastic (like my tail lights).

Once off, there will be a line of residue 3m tape leftover. I bought a 3m solvent and that made a big difference. Just know, it took awhile to get all of it off.

oh, by the way, if you end up taking it off where there is paint, use an eraser wheel. That will take hours off of rubbing and wont hurt the paint (as long as you dont sit there and burn through the clearcoat). Dont use that eraser wheel on plastic though. It will mar the finish and it wont look even.

I found some great stuff that will remove decals and body moulding adhesive strips. It's also the best stuff I have ever found to remove pine sap! It's called Decal and Adhesive Remover by Klean-Strip. Product # EAD-908. I found it at an auto body supply place.

By the way if the paint is good under the chrome you will not have to do anything but wipe it clean with more of this stuff and hit it with some wax.
