I bought the steel, even with discount cost me about 170 bucks. I'm going with 2" square tubing for the whole frame. Had to take apart and fix my welder yet again but I'm getting some of the best welds I've gotten out of that machine. I decided to go without the bevel, just think it'll look off putting a bevel in the rack when I'm not following the contour of the rest of the cab accurately. also, it's a lot of extra work and my miter saw broke in the middle of my cuts so the rest will be done by hand with the cutoff wheel.

As you can see, it took a little playing with the welder to get decent welds.
Sorry for the night pics, but as of now they're the only ones I have. I'll work on it again this weekend and get better ones as it progresses. I have the top, bottom, and uprights welded up right now. The sides are cut, just need to take them to the grinder and weld those suckers on and then it's time for mounting, tie downs, removable expanded metal face, and lights.

I'm curious as well. I would think it would be cheaper in parts and time to just buy one.

I'm debating between 1" x 2" rectangular tubing and 1.5" square tubing for the frame. I've decided I'm not going to have horns on it. I just think it looks cleaner without and I can easily secure a ladder through the upper set of tie downs.

Please keep in mind this isn't to scale. I sketched this up on my flight to Houston and didn't have a ruler.
