Default Guys with True Blue Trucks...Help Please.

About a month ago I had to have a bed side replaced on my 06 XLT,since then it's been at the dealer and painted three times because they cannot match the color.

The paint code is L2 "True Blue",which I have seen several trucks this color but most of them are a metallic dark blue.My truck is the dark blue in low light but turns various shades of purple depending on sunlight, which is the issue with the new paint....it does not change color.

I have tried to tell them the truck has factory pearl paint but they don't seem to get it. After running my vin on the ford site it definitely lists the color as True Blue Pearl, which I assume is a variation of the L2 code.

Can some of you guys with True Blue trucks run your vin on the ford site and post what the color is listed and weather your paint changes color...it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure your truck hasn't had a total repaint? Have you owned the truck since day 1? Just trying to think outside the box a little.

Nope,it was a one owner truck. He says it was never painted. Here's a pic, looks like every other true blue truck....until the sun hits it.

I just did PTM handles on my True Blue and it didn't make 100%. Just a shade off.... but my truck does not look purple in the sunlight; it looks like yours in the picture above. I have no idea on the whole purple issue...

I have an 06, with the blue paint that changes to a slight purple in some lights. When I enter my VIN, it says True Blue Pearl....

On a side note, under the "minor features" column, it says Brick Tu Tone #1 which I'm not sure what that is. I don't have a two tone truck...

must be our '06 trucks are a rare variant of true blue.I've only seen one other besides mine that had the purple haze like color......

The body shop had someone from PPG come out with some type of camera to match the paint, as far as I can tell the new paint is a match.
