When I bought my 4300dvd in 2011, the head unit was 378, harness was $12, dash kit was $35. Dash kit was sold out online, so I bought locally. The crutch wanted just under 450 shipped with all the crap included that I had to buy separately.

If everthing came from crutchfield, then you should have all the adapters you'll need. Go slow and enjoy doing the installation and it will come out fine.
The biggest pain is taking the entire rear door panel on my super cab off.
Maybe you did spend a little more, but nobody at Amazon will help you take the dash panel off.
Good luck.

I understand both sides. I just got the Pioneer avh-x5500 the other day from amazon and installed today. I had a buddy that does car audio help me install. Might have been a different story if I was on my own. I hear crutch field has the best customer service.

You pay extra for the excellent technical support. You can call them and they will help you out as much as they possibly can with no high pressure sales tactics.

I love crutchfield. I bought a kenwood excelon deck from them for around $170 and they sent the dash kit, wiring harness, and really well put together instructions made for your specific vehicle. Had no problems installing it. I did however get the amp, sub, and door speakers off of amazon which was about half the money I would have spent at crutchfield. That being said I will always by head units from crutchfield because the money you save on all the instillation gear and free shipping out way the little extra cost of the head units as they are pretty competitively price for the most part.

I had a great experience with them!
Bought four Rockford Fasgate speakers for about 150.00
The local shop was gonna charge 130.00 a pair installed for the same speakers
I had never taken on anything like this but the instructions they sent were so detailed it was a no brainer
They sent the wiring to install the speakers for no charge also
True I could have gotten the speakers cheaper on amazon but those xtracab rear doors would have had me stumped
And with my Kenwood DDX470 the sound difference is incredible

Just ordered the x5500 from crutchfield myself. How is it now you have it installed?

I've gotten great deals from sonicelectronix.com as well! My last two head units were from there. They include installation gear and you can always find how to's on forums. Back in the day before forums, Crutchfield was worth it just because of the car sheet.

I used to think crutch field was over priced but there sale items cannot be beat and the excellent service with the required adapters and harnesses that come with for free is a major plus. It'll sound great man!
