I redid the installation today - took a little over an hour this time. Came out looking so pretty. I feel better now that I know the pipe is butted up against that inner fender. Fit together nicely and everything went as planned. I love hearing it suck up all that air when I hit the gas. Turns out I'm not really getting much better gas mileage, but the response is so crisp. Worth every cent and every minute, times ten. The belt sander was the perfect tool - very easy to get even and precise sizing. Anyone looking to do this modification should see http://https://www.f150forum.com/f4/gotts-intake-modification-33219/

I have a ghetto version of this done, I want to do this mod bad. I hit the link above and it did not work, It just went to a search engine from my local provider. What I have done is taken off the back end of the filter housing, the clamp that holds the housing together is holding the filter on the end. So the filter is out in the open like if it had a CAI. I noticed a better throttle response but isn't it just getting warm or hot air?

Default Gotts to do it right

This thing is so easy to do - basically take out the plastic piece going into the fender from your old intake. Get a piece of 3" pvc pipe to replace it. Cut the pvc to the length of the old piece, starting from where the end of the filter housing is. Sand 2" from the end of the pvc so it fits into the hole in the fender. Use a rubber coupling to connnect the filter housing and the newly installed intake. Everything fits back into the stock mounts, you just get about an inch of extra diameter for the air to pass through into the engine. Try searching "gotts mod" with quotations if you need more explicit directions. If you have the big picture, its pretty easy to figure out. I hope this helps.
