Default Is the Gotts Mod worth it

Looking to find out how to do the gotts mod on my 2004 5.4 and how reliable it is and if its worth doing? Any help would be great!

I just did mine this weekend, an 05 5.4. For about $10 I figured it was worth a shot. I went to home depot and bought a pre-cut 2' length of pvc, thankfully it was already black. I also bought the flex coupler while I was there.
I used a dremel and ground down the "oval" shape into the end of it about the width of the dremel sanding drum so there was an abrupt step at the transition from oval to round, this ensured it only protruded about 1/2 inch into the firewall.

I also replaced the air filter while I was at it with a K&N, the OE one in the truck only had a few thousand miles.

I did notice better throttle response immediately. I did not notice more power but I'm confident the truck breathes better now.

For $10 and a few minutes of my time it was a easy, and easily reversible, mod. I'll keep it.

Well, Ive yet to see any before and after dyno #s, but for me, since I used parts I had lying around, thus making it FREE, yep, it was worth it.
When you're looking at such a small investment in $$ and time, with no real negatives, I can't see a down side.
(Would like to see if there is ANY hp differnce though; can't imagine it would be much) Cold air DEFINITLY makes more hp becasuse it is denser and can burn more fuel, but the stock setup pulled cold air, soooo

I did it and didn't notice anything but an annoying squeak and rattles from the pipe going into the fender, so I took it out after a month and went back to stock. No more noises. I run a k&n drop in filter too.

Between the gotts mod and an amsoil high flow dry filter I gained about 0.5 mpg which adds up with all the other things I've done so for 10 bucks in parts plus a 50$ air filter which will last 100000 miles it was definitely worth it! Best bang for your buck if you consider that my 350 dollar programmer gained 2 mpg while this 10$ mod gained a quarter of that for a thirtieth of the cost!

I used the gotts mod for a year .. last week I put the OEM. Peice back on .. I saw no difference. Either way. Figured the stock tune would work better with the stock intake parts

I noticed no gains, no losses. IMO I wasted my time making it.

X2^^

Went from stock, to gotts, to a Volant CAI.... The Volant is noticeably better. It pulls in ambient temperature air consistently, even at light throttle cruising. The gotts did not.
