Default Got a tint ticket today!!! Help needed

Okay so New York is pissing me off more and more lately, I have 20% tints on my front windows (I had them match the factory tint on my rear windows) and have had no issues from police for 3 years! Now today, I was going down the interstate....DOING THE SPEED LIMIT....and a trooper went to pass me and decided he needed to pull me over and slap me with a tint ticket. He used the tint meter and it read around 16%.......It was a traffic infraction, and I know it won't cost that much...but you think I should pay it and keep them? Or just be done with tints? I know that you need at least 70% light transmission in NYS but it's a little ridiculous....I know I can probably get the ticket dropped if I go to court and show them pictures of the tint removed, but frankly, I like the way it looks on my black and grey SCAB FX4.....any suggestions? If I go legal the most I could do is 70%.....which looks like garbage in my opinion.

Here's my opinion on the subject of tinting, and in no way reflects if you keep the tint or not...

From a police officers point, they do not wish to have to approach a vehicle that they cannot see the passengers in. No telling what's going on, or if any of them "are packing". For this reason, some police officers are touchy, some are not.

I agree with Bucko. In California, no tint is legal on the front windows. It might be a pain, but maybe take it off, get it dismissed, then put it back on. Maybe it will be another 3-4 years before you get stopped again...if ever.

I've got 35% tint on my truck and haven't been called out on it yet, even after getting pulled over for something else, and Alaska has a NO tint policy.

You can pull it off and reinstall it, or pay the ticket and try to get another 3 years

I completely agree with what you've stated, and I understand why the law is the way it is. But I only have 20% tints, not 5% or less, fords come from the factory with 20%, I wish they would at least allow the fronts to match factory but that will never happen

I have 5% tint on all my vehicles.

I just expect to pay a tint ticket every 3-5 years cause in the end, they are illegal and I fully acknowledge that my tint is darker then legal limit but I like it so I'm just gonna keep it and pay the ticket and move on.

I'd keep it if was myself, tint makes a whole world of difference visually on a vehicle.

I would definitely keep it and pay or take it off then put it back on, whichever would be cheaper and less of a hassle. That being said, here in NC (not sure about other states), you can get a "tint permit" if you go to the eye doctor and they say your eyes are sensitive to light. Might be worth looking into, because I think the tint looks great on that truck!
