Here's my opinion on the subject of tinting, and in no way reflects if you keep the tint or not... From a police officers point, they do not wish to have to approach a vehicle that they cannot see the passengers in. No telling what's going on, or if any of them "are packing". For this reason, some police officers are touchy, some are not.

I'd keep it on and just pay the ticket. We're allowed 25% down here in Texas. I've seen some seriously dark tint down here, to the point it's dangerous. Seen several trucks with like 5 over 15 on all the windows and a 5% windshield. It's a hazard. But clearly yours isn't that bad so I vote keep it.

So you're telling me the windows were the problem, and not the tails?

Yeah, I was kinda surprised he didn't mention anything about that, but I don't know where in NYS law that it mentions anything about tinted tail lights. I mean I know law enforcement officials in my area that drive jacked up powerstrokes with HOOD STACKS!!! I mean come on, cut me some slack, I've only had one other minor violation, I think it was a traffic ticket....but regardless, It's not like I'm running 5% on 15% like someone had previously mentioned....anyone know how much the ticket would cost? I think it will cost me around 100 to have them redone, so if the ticket is around that I'll just leave them on....This def is a frustrating subject and I understand the safety factor involved but come on...AT LEAST I WAS DOING THE SPEED LIMIT!

Yeah, that sucks man. Tough call because that tint really does look nice. I guess you could always move.

I'm starting to think it would be better to move! They took our guns, taxes suck, gas prices suck, the roads are salted and sanded to death, and now this tint crap....I need to move south

So ok yeah I agree with that, which is why I always roll my windows down when I'm pulled over and put my hands at 12 o'clock due to a loaded firearm in the truck with me. But if I need to agree to it they should also. Half the cop cars around my area are tinted DARK! Some even have the windshield tinted AND a lot of them don't even have brake tags. It's one thing to say I can't have it(tint) and I must have it(brake tag) because of a law but what makes them above the law?!?! This subject pisses me off! Wayne
Well, a member of the general public does not have to approach a police car to see what they are doing while sitting inside, thus it does not matter if police have tint.
My fronts are at 30%. Not bad, but not legal either. Three years and so far no tickets.
Not sure what brake tags are.

We call inspection stickers in the South brake tags.
