Default transmission add ons

well i have been in a search for a 5-6 inch efan for my transmission cooler...and am considering a transmission guage also..

i figure if i take care of the fluid in this hot area, socal, i will better preserve my tranny and improve performance a tad due to less thermal breakdown.

so anyone have any idea where to get a 5-6 inch fan...summit has 7, but thats realy big for the 5.5 inch cooler, and jegs has nothing...

the smallest i could fine was 7.5" and it came with a whole tranny cooler. im sure the stock cooler isnt the best, have you considered upgrading? i dont know how hot it gets in san diego but im about 1.5 hours north of you and even on 90* days my tranny is in the 150*-160* range. ive been told 80* above outside temp is ideal so im not having issues. cant imagine your tranny is running too hot. get a scangauge and fine out what your tranny is running. more then likely the fan is totally unnecessary

true but i figure added insurance isnt a bad thing, it gets about 90 or so around here lately and my iat's are in the 130's so i can just immagine the tranny cooler isnt giving off much heat at a standstill, when its been driving for a little while the tranny feels soft and doesnt have the firmness like it should...i am thinking heat may have a play in this

i could upgrade but i just want a little simple project to add on to the other stuff i have been doing

Get a mag hytec or similar oil pan and tranny pan and that should do enough for the cooling, as for a tranny gauge, unless you are towing capacity around, you shouldn't need it.

once the mod bug comes big i will need it, and i need to fill a hole for the pod that i think im going to pick up...

ford racing makes the deep sump with drian plug for the 4r70w tranny, may get it...but still would like to pull heat...may upgrade the current cooler to a race ready one with a intergrated fan and just use some an lines to connenct from the factory lines..
