Got hit last night
Well, the first thing I find on Good Friday is that somebody ran into the back of my truck and took off. I knew I should have taken my truck to work instead of the car. Oh well, looks like I am off to the insurance company. They hit the passenger side panel behind the rear tire. Separated the fender flare from the body and left a crease from the top of the bed to the bottom of the panel. Nice little scratch on the paint too. No paint transfer but they left a trail into their garage with a good tire impression. By the way, I live in a condo and we have a parking lot out in front of the residences with each place having a two car garage. Maybe they will apologize, maybe not, either way the damage has been done.

That is too bad. Unfortunately, I too have been a victim of hit and run. You are screwed. If the culprit does not fess up there is nothing you can do. I learned the hard way.

Call the cops and get a report... This will help you with the ins company... They have not just damaged your property they have committed a crime, most policies require you to do all that you can to find the perp...

X2 plus if there is a trail leading to the persons garage then the police have the suspect and therefore they will ahve to pay for the damages not you.

I hope for the OP's sake that this is all that is needed in their state, but in my case I had pretty good evidence and all the person said was "wasn't me". Case closed I lose, but I hope for the OP it works out. An unbiased eye witness would be what is needed to have a strong claim.
