Default Good programmer for 4.6

I drive a 2004 XLT xcab with the 4.6 with the towing package. Last year I purchased a 24' travel trailer. Loaded with equipment and both propane tanks full it comes in at just under 5000lbs. Luckily I live in the canadian prairies so there are no hills or mountains. Towing it has not really been an issue, drives just fine at 100k, I just make sure I keep OD off. I plan on doing a little more camping this summer and maybe even do one or two trips south of the border. I love the truck and don't want to get rid of it, but I'd also like a little more power when needed.

Does anyone out there use a programmer on a 4.6? Does it make a significant difference? Any other tricks? Like I said, I'm not looking for the kind of power a 5.4 makes, but just a little more than stock.

Oh and also, last year I towed that same trailer with my father's truck (2008 GMC with the 5.3), and believe it or not it wasn't much better (if any) than my truck...

Cheers!

I have a 5.4L with the Edge Evolution Programmer. I love the programmer. It has 3 power levels: Stock/Transmission, Towing, and Performance. I pull a 4 place fully loaded snowmobile trailer without any problems. The added horsepower and torque (35HP, 50ft. lbs) is extremely convenient. The display is nice to have so you can monitor you engine/transmission. There are 22 different parameters you can choose from.

2005 F150 STX SCAB 4X4 4.6L.
I have an Edge Evolution, got it to boost power when pulling ATV trailer, and you can feel the difference. I got the EVO because of reviews, cost and I like having a gauge display. It also comes with a mounting pod that makes it look like it came with the vehicle. I also did the Gotts Mod, with the 4.6L it is an easy conversion, takes about 6" of 3" PVC and a 3" rubber pipe coupler, hardest part was sanding down the PVC to fit the fender well hole, cost less than $7 for the coupling at Home Depot and you should be able to find some scrap PVC from a plumber or electrician, does not matter what color because you can cover it completely if you use the correct length.

P.S. I got my EVO at:

they had the best price and it came quick. When not towing you should see better gas mileage unless you keep your foot in it playing with the power.
