Getting Taller

I'm trying to get my truck to be as tall as my dads because I'm 6'2 and I don't like sitting down into a truck, I'd like to have to step up into it. My dads truck is a 2014 2" leveled 4x4 f150 with 33's, and mine is a 2007 2.5" leveled 2wd f150 with 32s. My dads truck feels like it is still 2-3" taller than mine and he is right on the line of me having to step up into. What options do i have to get to his height, and if there are none to get that exact height I'd be open to going taller.

Measured his truck and my truck out. Measured from the ground the wheel arch on the body and its a difference of 2.5" front to back. Not sure how much bigger i can go on tires before needing to regear either, its a 4.2L 5spd with, i think, 3.31's.

I wouldn't go much larger in tires with 3:31 gears. But a 4inch lift would get you to the height of his.

I dont mind re-gearing, but i like to do all my work myself, and ive never done that. Also if I went the route of the 4" lift do would I need to take the leveling kit out? I dont want the cali lean thing going on. But I also think that a 4" lift will drawf the 32's i have on it right now.

You would take the leveling kit out. The lifts will generally use larger spacers for your struts to accommodate the taller position. I have 285/55/20's on my truck with a 4" lift. Mine are 32.3", and I think they look fine. I did a Rough Country 4" lift. Happy with it other than the rear shocks. The RC shocks aren't bad, but I had Bilstien 5100's on the rear before, so I got spoiled by them. I'll be buying some longer 5100's soon.

Looks good, seems about the right height. I assume this puts the upper control arm in a better position than just the leveling kit?

If you look at the 3rd pic I posted, you can see the drop brackets that lowers the lower control arms. The knuckle that the brake attached to is also longer. (should have done a side by side pic) This puts the upper control arm, and tie rods back into factory angles. A 6 inch lift would put your uppers at the same angle as a leveling kit.

Rough Country 4 inch kit also came with extended steel braided front brake lines too. Nice little upgrade.

This pic shows the new knuckle before install. Has the tie rod attachment point higher than stock, which brings it back to stock angles.

The 50$ difference almost makes me just want to go 6" and get the extra 2"

I had that debate for over a year. I ended up going 4" because if I went 6", I would want larger tires, and then I'd have to regear. You can also run into issue with parking garages, or garages in general. Being too tall for them. I have about 1 1/2" clearance at the parking garage at my Dr's office.

If it makes any difference. The difference between the 4" and 6" lift, is the strut spacer size, and the rear block height. I actually ended up doing 5" in the rear, because the truck looked slightly nose high. I may eventually go 6". I'll just do an add a leaf in the rear. and do Bilstein 5100's or 6112's up front set at 2 inches, with my 4" spacer on top. That or, Rough Country sells a 6" lifted strut.
