Geneeric obd2 and can code scanner
Hello all..I was wondering if anyone has run into the same problem. I have a generic chinese made obd2 and can code scanner/reader. I used it for my old car, bmw 330i, and it worked great. I just became the proud owner of a 2004 F 150 crew cab 5.4 triton. I tried to do a scan but the reader does not recognize the computer. Anyone else have this problem?
I did a search and have checked the fuses and all is ok. Any suggestions...thanks...Spike24 |
I was told these trucks have CAN protocol which is different than the older obd2. I have a 2005 and my older Actron will not work on it.

There's your problem! As stated by leopold, the early OBD scanners are not compatable with the newer systems. One other thing to consider: if you're planning to buy a tunner in the near future, do it now, as most tunners also scan and clear ODB II codes. Two for one! |
Thanks Bucko..I am gonna look for a new one...sorry it took so long to respond..I was watcing my Cleveland Browns lose again..AUGGGGG!!!!!:censored:
