Which gears should I get??
Hi, Ive got a 2005 f150 5.4 extended cab xlt 4x4, i recently leveled it and put 35s on it. I love the look it gave the truck, however I can notice a significant loss of "get up" i guess you could say. The truck just feels like it has to work a lot harder to turn the big tires. I have stock gears in the rear end right now and was wondering if I used a different gear ratio would this help put a little pep back in her step? If so which ratio should I get? Also if anyone has any other ideas to help this situation it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My 04 xlt has 3.55 gears so I'm assuming yours the same I'm running 31 more or less (soon to get 35) so maybe a 3.73 that are found in fx4 or maybe 4.10
But wait and see in what other people has experience if there running the same set up my truck is all stock except for aftermarket wheels and tires 2 inch level and that's about it ( more mods soon to come ) so hear from other first

My truck came stock with 4:10's when I had 35's on it pulled good.. I have pulled our travel trailer and boat with it and never had an issue... I now have 40's and still run that gear set for now.. By the way I do also have a Gryphon which probably helps.

4.10s if you never tow. 4.56 if you tow a lot

I used this site when I moved from 3.55 to 4.10. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
This is quite usefully since you can use different tire and gear ratio to see rpm at any given speed

I have had 4.56's in mine for more than just a couple years now and my only complaint that I have with them is that I didn't do it sooner!!! Mine came from the factory with 3.73's and my truck has had 35's on it the majority of it's life. I bought the truck new with just under 200 miles on it and it had the 35's on when I bought it.
