Gas Mileage....
I am new to the forum and I already have a question. I just bought my wife a '07 F150 4x4. 5.4L , auto. I am interested in what tuners or programmers ya'll are using that get the best mileage. I am not so much worried about power. I drive a F250 PSD 4x4 that gets 20 MPG and makes alot of power doing it. I know what to do when it comes to diesel but I haven't been in a gas vehicle for a while so I need some help. My Brother has an 06 F150 4x4, 4.6L with an Edge Evolution and picked up 2-3 MPG. Best friend had an 05 F150 4x2, 4.6L also with an Edge Evolution...Same result. So I am leaning that way but I am interested to hear what yall are using and what you are getting. I realize CAI's and Exhaust are important also and that is why they are already on the way. OH....Please be honest. I am a mechanic. I work for a fleet company with drivers always trying to convice me that they have no idea why the mainshaft of their trans is twisted and things of that nature. I can normally sniff out the BS. Thanks in advance...Oh!!! One more question....Is the rear still an 8.8 or did they change?? Alright, I lied, one more.... What is the front axle?? Could slide under it and look but I'm lazy and its cold outside..

Welcome to the site. I have a SCTX3 custome tunes, AF1 intake, Roush exhaust and I have picked 44 RWHP and about 3 MPG's. I do suggest you have the truck dyno tuned for safty sake. I was told they can run very lean with just an intake.

Well, here is the straight for you...
Don't get a tuner for economy. What is real is this;
A good tuner will increase you drivability by adjusting shift points, revs, etc and getting you great throttle response. In the process of doing this, the vehicle perfoms more efficiently from the sloppy stock config as you well know as a mechanic. SO, you end up with a better performing truck that happends to get a little bit better mpg's.
As for tuner, you need custom tunes for YOUR truck and mods it has. Go with the SCT. An XcalIII with custom tunes form VMP or Troyer would do you just fine. If you are stuck on the edge, get the Gryphon from PHP. It is a better version of the Edge. These three are your best option cause if you are gonna do it, do it right.

I have an Xcal II with both Troyer & VMP tunes. Very little difference in the feel of these tunes. I did have Justin at VMP adjust those tunes slightly so the torque converter locks up at a higher speed then originally set. It just felt like the truck was really bogging down at about 45mph, now it locks around 55mph, but feels 10 times better.

I've a 2006 King Ranch 4X4 I just purchased and the floor shifter **** is broken. I purchased a new one but can't figure out how to get the old one off. I pulled the chrome trigger out that released a pin that goes into the shifter shaft. The chrome trigger is what you push in to get you out of park. I pulled and pulled on the assembly but it never budged. Am I missing some other release point? I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the help. I have it narrowed down to the Gryphon or SCT. Does anyone know what the round about delivery time is on a customed tuned tuner?

VMP-has been reported from 1 week to 1 month.
