if you look at the pictures you can see its not the 5.4 intake and look at the carfax it says its a 4.6 this was just one I found real fast
I never looked at a FX4 (no need for 4x4) so I'm not sure about that so that might be the case but the FX2 was offered with a 4.6

The FX2 is a option package for the XLT, and therefore available with the 4.6L. You'll notice the brochure says the FX2 has a "standard Triton V8" it would say the 5.4L if it had the big motor.

Ok if someone could help me out I thought it was a 4.6 but I am having someone look at it for me cause I am deployed overseas. What is the easiest way for me to tell them to look and find out if it a 4.6 and the gears? Sorry for all the confusion I asked them to look on my paperwork but its all in storage. Thanks for all the help so far guys I will put up picks when I get the tires.

Don't worry i gotcha man.To see what type of engine it is.Have them lift the hood,if its a 5.4,it will say right on the intake 5.4.If not,it will say 4.6 otherwise. Now for gears, there is a tag attached to the rear diffy stating what gears they are.Assuming tho the tag hasn't fallen off. Also the info tag on the shroud will saw that type of engine it is.Well on mine it does.Don't see why it would be any different.

What size rims do you have?17,18,20's?

thanks for the help skull. I think it was still to hard for them...lol But I just had them get my vin number and I found out it is a 4.6. My stock rims are 18" with 265 on there now. So to go to the 285 with the same rims. Should I just get the leveling kit will that handle it or will I have to do more with it? Thanks again for all your help

I was thinking you had 17 inch rims and then with a leveling kit, could handle it.Now with the 18's and going up to 285,i still think with a leveling kit that you will be fine. However tho i am not entirely sure(sorry man)Hopefully someone will chime in.If you can,get me your exact rim and tire size.

Anybody want to chime in for a soldier?

Armylife, I have the same truck, 4.6 FX2 with the stock 18 inch rims and I just put on 285/65s on my truck and I am all stock, no lift and no leveling kit. I have had them for about 2 months now and no rubbing either. If you want those 285s, I'd say go for it, you should be fine.
