I just connected a EDGE CTS, it gives a sort of funny smell. It remains even after bringing it inside home..its not really strong. When called EDGE, he at first said its normal..then said try loading the fusion again...if it persists to send it to fix it. Anyone experienced..similar issue??? Thanks

 

The tuner itself has a funny smell or the truck after it's tuned?

Gotta admit, that's a first time I've heard that question about tuners/programmers and I thought I've heard em all before...

 

At first I thought it was the truck...NO. Its the tuner. Brought it inside home and I cld smell when taken upclose.

 

never smelled mine..I heard they taste like chicken..

OP:

- place the Edge in a metal pot.
- hook it up to yer pc via USB
- leave it on fer an hour or two
- if it does not spontaneously combust, yer good to go ( likely just the 'new electronics smell'
- if it DOES roll coal, quickly disconnect and put a lid on the pot, as yer Goose is indeed cooked. Once you've let the smoke out of any electronics, it will cease to function.
- Call Edge fer a new one.

You really do not want this happenin' in-vehicle. I have a reeeeeally long USB cable - for this test, I'd put the bird outside meeself, lol.

Bcos it was connected without factory reset..(PO/forum mbr here advised me it was reset) & it had 2006 on its files and mine was 2004, the files in my pcm got corrupt and just after connecting was the smell, turns out the display was burnt (said edge), to me it was displaying fine till I disconnected but smelled like burnt elec components. Edge came forward and replaced a new unit and shipped out at their expense in addition to reflashing my PCM. Havent seen very many companies stand by their product even thou they don't have to. It was almost 2 years old and warranty is only for 1 year on New Edge products. EDGE ROCKS !!!
