Function Ram Air vs CAI PLZ Help!
I just ordered this functional ram air hood for my 06 screw. I currently have a K&N Cold Air Intake system that works fine.
My question, the manufacturer of this hood sells an intake for $250. Do I go with it or keep the CAI that I have? I want the best performance solution. http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...psc5721946.jpg http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...psaea89037.jpg |
you bought the hood, get the intake

I have the same hood you are showing there and go with the intake made for the hood! If you don't the hood is just an ornament, although a very unique and awesome one at that. However, it won't be quite as awesome unless its functional, and your buddies will give you hell about it lol.

A ram air has 0 affect under 60-70 mph or more depending on how efficient the design is. Unless your always on the interstate, I'd stick with what you have. Plus the hood with out the intake will help cut down on temps under the hood..... And from past experience with several other cars "ram air" is about as effective as those electric superchargers that you see on ebay.

But yes, you are correct the performance is minimal. I barely noticed a little bit better passing power. OP economically sticking with what you already have makes the most sense however why get the hood without the intake? It's up to you. |
Cutting down on engine bay temps will cut down on the heat soak of the intake manifold and cai.
