Well, it would seem that not only has the problem *not* gone away, but a new symptom is now showing up. On rapid deceleration (ie: when having to brake strongly because some has cut you off), when trying to accelerate back up to speed there is a severe lack of power, to the point where the engine stalls out (has happened a few times).

Any other suggestions on where to look next? My neighbour insists on me changing the fuel pump, but to my way of thinking, either the pump works or it doesn't, right?

I would spray some clear coat on the back of the FPDM to prevent corrosion. I just had to replace mine today and there was a hole in the back. I drove 11,000 miles not knowing it. The clear coat gives me peace of mind

Vacuum leak possibly, you may need to check fuel pressure which is not easy also. Any codes?

last summer I had intermittent similiar problems (in addition sometimes mine wouldn't start)....Never got any codes or anything to point me in the right direction. The dealership couldn't figure it out, because never any symtoms, or code history, when they checked out the truck. As a starting point, I had them replace the fpdm... but it didn't cure my ills. Finally a tech at the ford dealership checked it out and determined it was a bad Fuel Pump Inertia Switch. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since. Something you may want to consider having checked.

A quick Google search returns a lot of hits, but mostly for 89-96 type trucks. Where would I find this switch on my 07, and is it something I can test out myself? I've made an appointment with a mechanic for Wednesday, but if I can fix/check it on my own, well.....I'm all for saving $$$ where and when I can

Well, today is Wednesday and I dropped my truck off at the shop first thing this morning. Just before I dropped it off, the CEL came on, throwing a P0191 code.

I just spoke with them, and they said they spend 3 hours trying to figure out what the problem *might* be. I was told they took it for a test drive with a fuel pressure gauge on, and it never registered over 10 PSI.

So, by the sounds of it, I'll be looking at a new fuel pump.

Holy crap! I just paid $1010 to have my fuel pump and fuel filter replaced. The truck runs much better, but $1010?!? I don't have the bill in front of me at the moment, but from what I can remember...

$411 for the pump
$ 48 for the filter
$385 for labour on the pump
$ 96 for labour on the filter

I was told that I was only charged for 4 hours labour when I could have been charged up to 8! Apparently, the entire undercarriage of the truck was so caked with mud, and bolts were so rusted and corroded that they actually had to cut a few off (they showed me this), not to mention the piles of dirt/debris/crap that fell off of everything underneath!

Long story short (too late!), I got my baby back, and she's running fine. But $1010....that hurt more than a little bit.
