All that nonsense with cleaning it, shaking it, drying it, and wrapping it in a ziploc takes a lot more time than one click to order a new one.
Your sweet fix with the ziploc bags will leak, and now you are just trapping moisture inside of your contraption, making it worse. I strongly advise against this.

First thing I did when I bought my truck was pull the FPDM and inspect it. Since it was fine, I made spacers and coated the aluminum with 6 coats of black barbecue rustproof paint.

That's a good idea. I wish I would have done that, I just installed my 3rd FPDM over the summer before the weather got bad. Cheap a** pot metal.......

3rd? Did the first 2 not come with spacers? If you live in the rust /salt belt I would relocate it to the cab. All it takes is some wire.

The first one was the original and blew out in the winter of 2012, Then the replacement was starting to crack this summer so I went ahead and replaced it with a new one. All came with spacers, I live in upstate New York so the salt/sand destroys everything up here.

Just checked mine after issues getting to work..stumbling and only 1500ish rpm. After work started right up.. made it 4 blocks.and same issues..1500 rpm then lower and lower then die. Wait 10 min.. pri.e pump a few times.. can hear pump run but sounds a little coarse.. then start and make it 4 more blocks.. 5 miles later I'm home thinking fuel pump and see this post.. Pulled mine.. broke in half and dime size hole on the back. Am I on the right.track.. or is it fuel pump.. had 4 codes p0190..p0191..p0174 and another..fuel pressure sensor..lean.. ect..

let us know .......but if the pump runs , I think the fuel module may not be a problem , course there are a lot of reasons why it may stumble , may or may not be fuel related , but first place I would look too is pump , I don't think pump would run if you had a bad module.

I'll have to add this to my list of things to do within a few weeks. Didn't know anything about this. Any preventative part under $100 is a no brainer.

Well the FPDM needs replaced anyway. Replace it and see if it cures the problem.
