Default ticking sound by gas tank when engine is off

I have a rapid ticking sound coming from the gas tank area. Does any one know what this might be and how to fix it? I am very mechanically inclined and a do it yourselfer. It drained my battery. Could this be the fuel pump? THANKS.

Its hard to diagnose without actually being there, but if you think it might be your fuel pump then while the noise is happening pull the fuel pump relay out of the underhood fuse block, if the noise goes away then your a step closer.

That was going to be my next step. Do you know if there is any other modules or relays in that area. Do you happen to know how to replace a fuel pump? Thanks.

Fuel pump is in the tank, you have to drop the tank down and remove the retaining ring, from there its just a matter of swapping things out. Its a simple job as long as you can get to the top of the tank. If your doing it yourself, its a little easier to remove all the bed bolts and lift one side of the bed up and support it with a block of wood or something.
