I need help with head lights/tail lights
I was wondering if anybody with electrical experiance had 30 minutes to talk about head lights/tail lights. I'm about to do a light conversion that i have a few questions about.

American Vehicles have to meet MOT standards in the UK once imported. the Parking lights must be clear instead of amber. to fix this i had to cut the parking brake wire from the head lamp and lead it to a separate light mounted on the grill. you must have side indicators mounted on the side of your vehicle if one is not already present (side mirrors with blinkers integrated into it). that part's easy... what i'm stuck on now is the tail lights. the brake light has to be separate from the blinkers. i spent entirely too much time today trying to figure out how to make this happen. what I'm supposed to do is disconnet the reverse light (reverse lights are not required in the UK), paint the reverse bulb amber (all turn indicators are required to be amber) and find a way to make the reverse light a turn indicator. I also have to disconnect the blinker from the brake light as they have to two separate light sources... does that make sense? after this is finished i have to wire a rear fog light (red) under the right side of my back bumper. to do that, i'm going to splice the front fog light wires and run the wires to the rear so that all i need to do is turn on the front fog light and consequently the rear fog light will also illuminate. I'm a novice at best when it comes to working on cars/trucks but i love doing the work. does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this?

my suggestions:
rear fog light:
-run a power wire from battery to the rear fog, with a relay in between, under the hood.
-splice a wire from one of the front fog lights, to the "turn on" part of the relay.
-this should make your rear fog turn on with front fogs.
rear turn signals:
-see if you can find an amber bulb that fits the reverse light socket.
-cut the wires off the tail light plug that control blinkers, and wire them into the reverse light plug.
-take reverse light wires and tuck them out of the way.

not a bad idea, except the brake light and binker are integrated . if i cut the blinker wire, i lose the brake light... that's bad. is there a way to disable the rear blinkers from under the dash?

I see your pain....the double filiment bulb uses one filiment for parking, and one for the brake/turn signal.
But there is a fix: in the states, you can go to a recreational vehicle store (place that sells campers) and buy a "box" that seperates this. I once owned a VW Vanagon that had seperate lights for the brakes and seperate lights for the turn signals (what you are trying to do). To add a simple 4 prong trailer wiring connector, I had to buy this "black box".
It will convert combined or seperate brake/turn signal lights to one or the other. I got mine online, but it was so long ago, I forgot the site name. I'll go to this VW forum I used to participate in and see if someone can post the site and I'll post back here for you unless you find this box sooner. It was not expensive; about $20.00 or so.
