Friction Modifier, 4 or 8 oz?

Got the rear diff, xfer case, engine & filter, and power steering all changed. Ran out of time and the front diff will have to wait a couple weeks. Xfer case fluid was very dirty. The rear diff oil was pretty clean, and the magnetic fill plug was clean also, but there is some light scoring on the inside of the diff cover. What's up with that?

Does the transfer case fluid require the friction modifier as well?
