freaking cold....
so i would like all of you cold weather guys to chime in here..,
so winter finally made it to nebraska. we got a few inches of snow and the temps are down in the 0* range and the "feels like" is somewhere around -30*ish. when i was on my way to work this morning i was driving with the wind at my back and the darn truck just would not keep the heater as hot as it can be. and when i would get up to 60mph or so the radiator would be flowing so much air it would start to cool down truck. have any of you guys looked into getting something like this?

i know you mostly see this stuff on diesel trucks but they make them for our truck so there must be a market for them........only thing i dont like about them is that they have "stick on" snaps. I would really like something that just velcro straps around the honeycomb grill i have

My explorer I used to just stick a slice of cardboard in my radiator during the coldest months. There was a lip so it would sit in there just fine and not fall out. I haven't dug into the bay to see if there is anything similar in this new truck.
It really did help the truck warm up quicker and keep it warm while driving.
I would probably not do it if I was idling a lot though. Just keep a real close eye on the temp gauge I guess.
P.S. I live in Lincoln so I know what you're going through. My truck lives in a garage at night so it does warm up quick in the morning since it's kept warm all night. I did have a lot of fun spinning cookies in the parking lot this morning too

yeah...i live in hastings and drive about 20 miles to work everyday so i normally drive my HHR because it gets about 20mpgs better than the truck and it sits in the garage and is warm by the time i put it in reverse. but today i took the truck because i didnt know what the highways were going to be like and its a good thing i did because most of our north/south roads were drifted about 8" or so along houses and tree lines. and my HHR would have never made it seeing as it has about 4" of ground clearance at the front plastic thing they call a bumper lol. i think i will try putting some cardboard in front of the about a 1/4th of the radiator and see if that helps. just has to be easy to get out because its supposed to be in the 40s here next week and dont want to have to worry about it getting hot around town.

were at about -34c after a quick converstion right now with the windchill here according to my weather center desktop thing then you ad another drop in actual temp when you are driving 60mph+ into the wind...thats hard for any vehicle to keep up
