Ford 9.75 inch pinion seal

Ford 9.75 inch pinion seal
Hi I've got a 2004 screw axle code 26 with the Ford 9.75 rear end. My question: Is there a difference between the pinion seals for the 8.8 and 9.75? I can only find pinion seals for the 8.8. I can also just buy a half ring and pinion install kit from richmond gear. These kits have the pinion seal as well as a cover gasket and crush sleeve. Which brings me to my next point.
When installing the pinion nut. Ive heard of arguments for just marking the nut location on the pinion sleeve and putting the nut back to that spot (with loctite). Ive also heard of using an inch-pounds torque wrench and measuring the torque required to remove the nut. Also Ive heard of just installing the new crush sleeve. All though I dont have a torque wrench powerful enough to crush the sleeve (400 ft.lbs?? i believe). For those who have experience with replacing the pinion seals. What method do you recommend?

8.8 and the 9.75 DO NOT have crush sleeves they use shims to set the pinion depth. The pinion nut is a one time use. The pinion nut is tighten to a torque value to turn the pinion alone.
So if you are just replacing the pinion seal. Get new pinion seal and nut. Remove the driveshaft. Remove pinion nut pull the pinion yoke. Remove seal, install new seal. Install the yoke and put the new nut on. Tighten nut till it takes around 10 INCH POUNDS to turn the pinion with the wheels off the ground with no wheel on

This was the how to guide on the replacement. It seems to me that the 9.75 has a crush sleeve. A crush sleeve is also included in the Richmond Gear half ring and pinion install kit. I could be wrong but maybe some years have a crush sleeve and some don't. Could other people who have done this weigh in on the install process??

I see it calls for a crush sleeve or pinion shims on a master overhaul for the 8.8 It also says the same for the 9.75
I know for a fact the 8.8 does not have a crush sleeve.
It does not matter anyways you tighten the nut till you are at your preload torque value
