My '04 4x4 console shifter is stuck in park, the shifter will pull all the way back, but it is not catching anything. I just shut my truck off and then got back in and this happened, never had any previous symptoms, I am over a 100 miles from home, luckily my wife met me down here (our weekend getaway) and then this happens!! I have pulled the cup holders and stuff out and tried the white button, but the shifter is not stuck, it moves, but the tranny will not come out of park, and I have never had any problems with it before, any ideas???

Check to see if the cable came off at the trans...

Sounds like a shift linkage came undone. Check for disconnected stuff. My dad had it happen with an 05

It did, I'm already on the road, thanks, the end is starting to wear out, gonna have to replace it soon

I actually have an unused shift cable I ordered by mistake I was gonna throw it on eBay. if you want it let me know
