Flex a lite controller
Hey guys I have a 2004 (04-08 model) f150 with the 5.4, iv been reading and I want to do the 2010- newer electric fan conversion because in Miami its hot and ac dosent cool very well in traffic. well my question is this, I like the Flex a lite controller with the soft start option and speeds up with temperature. but when I turn on the ac do the fans run at 100% or they run at a 50% or something, because apparently ( mixed opinions around the web) they say the 2010 fans run at like 60 amp at 100% but the flex a lite Is rated at 45 max. that Is why I want to know if the fans runn at 100% with the a/c on, that's the only thing I'm worried about

The FAL controller is undersized fer RF-269's. The RF-269's draw massive current @ startup ( which is why you should run a soft-start controller in the first place ). Look at DCC's controllers instead.

Be sure to search on DCC controllers before making a purchase. While Brian Baskin makes a great controller, his customer service leads a lot to be desired. You may get lucky and get one within a few weeks, or you may wait for weeks, with little to no response from him. In any event, make sure you have everything in hand before you start your install.

By now, I trust you've found DCC site, read the descriptions fer their Constant Temperature controllers ( they have new revised models since that thread - get the biggest one, with the largest harness option) and answered the questions yerself

The answer is 'Yes' to soft start. (I thought I made that evident).
As fer fans turning off at highway speeds, typically there is enough cooling from moving ambient air @ speeds above 40 or so that the temp sensor/controller will not call for forced cooling. However, IF you select the A/C, then 'Yes' the fans will run.
Fer a unit that does have speed sensing look at the Painless F5. Jegs, Summit, etc.
DCC's customer service was never a problem fer me. Lead times can be long (he's only one feller) so adequate planning to accomodate that would be prudent. Order yer controller, then spend time gathering yer components, modding the shroud/brackets, install, and by that time yer controller should have arrived. Contact him to discuss.
I will tell you this - neither Painless nor FAL can touch the build quality and stoutness of DCC's controllers. I've had all three in my hands, and I've even taken the DCC unit apart. It's a tank.

I did check out the website and its still up. I am going with the 8awg (80 amp I believe) haness, I did email Brian last night regarding his turnaround time so lets see when he response, all the forms I read about his were from2011 or 12 haven't found anything about him in later 15 or 16 year so lets see if not I can do dual fal contrlllers as another member did on his

I saw a thread where a cut off valve was added to the heater core. I have thought about trying that but never got around to it. The blend door should block the air but that's a lot of heat coming into the dash either way.

I got the dual F.A.L control I deal from you but, for the price of two FAL I can get the dc controller for cheaper, but if Brian doesn't pull through I may just do the two controller from FAL but lets see if Brian pulls through.

He will respond, eventually. And hopefully once he does, you get you're controller in a reasonable time frame. This was the complaints of many; they would have to wait several weeks. When he was emailed for a delivery time. this was when the lack of communication set it.
Again, he makes a great controller; it's just the turnaround time, and/or response time when waiting.
