Trying to help a friend with his 2006 F150 4.6 4x4.. today his 4x4 low light started randomly flickering with NO pattern, it's not flashing any specific number of times. And when he sets his cruise, the speedometer goes crazy sweeping up and down and then the cruise shuts off.
Any ideas or diagnostics I could try? I have read up on it a little and haven't found the same issue listed. Any help would be great!

I would bank on a new cluster..

Is there any way to test the cluster? Or is it just a crap shoot...

I'm not sure.. you can pull it and inspect all the connections...

He gave me some more info today.. when it starts blinking he said he hears a buzz/hum from under the truck. He also said that 4H engages but the 4L light still flashes.. and 4L engages and no lights flash. Then he tells me it stopped doing it the whole drive home (30 min) until he ran through a puddle of water, then it started emediately. Guess I'll end up under the truck inspecting the connectors to see if any a re fracked or the gaskets are missing/torn.

What about the other crap speedo and cruise you mentioned..
