Be ready for a headache or a pricey mech bill...cheapest I could find for a spark plug change was not cheap...mine cost 386$ would been cheaper had he not spent 8 hours digging spark plugs out of the head. FORD said $700 and that's off all plugs come out ok?¿
Thing is I already changed the spark plugs myself, only cost $100 for the plugs and I thought that was expensive! Took me about 3 hrs but looks like I might need to check if I cracked any during install! I've replaced the coils also.

Thanks for any help

I would start with oil pressure. Oil HOT at idle. When you rev it a bit does it smooth out?

I think the timing kit to go with is the Clowe's not the Dorman due to seeing tenisioners and phasers failing pretty quick. Go through this thread good, tons of good stuff!

Did you replace the chain tensioners as well. Seals on the originals often blow

Default Spark plug noise? An diesel ticking

Hello.New to the forum, and so far I love it.

My truck has around 77k miles and was wondering what that ticking noise was and found this forum where S_Vares has really helped out. So im thinking that this is my problem. So after doing more research im hearing so many fixes for it.

1. Leave it alone it wont harm anything
2. Driven over 50k miles with the noise and truck still works fine
3.Unplug VCT plug
4.Easy DIY repair with the proper knowledge/tools/time

Ive also heard it could be the spark plugs? why would spark plugs be ticking that loud?unless its the actually sparking of the plugs thats making the sound?!?
I work on C-5 Jet engines so im thinking that this could be an easy job but i only have one vehichle so thinking bout just letting go until i get another side vehicle.

sorry for any repeat questions or remarks i read a few pages of the post up till like page 12. Thanks an advance for any repsonses and answers.

If you have the $ you could always rent a little Econ car @ like $20 a day... As for the repair? I can take the truck down and put it back together w/o removing phasers in 10 hrs myself. If you have a dedicated weekend you can do it and not need a second car. If something goes wrong call enterprise, they will pick you up! As for doing the whole thing as long as you have no issues your first time I would say 15-20 hrs depending on your skill level. The injectors make a ticking sound. Locate exactly where your ticking is from. If its from up top and sounds like light tapping its most likely the injectors. If its from the front it's probably your timing. Hope this helps!

I have a question about the tensioners ... I replace my chains and tensioners phasers last June and wheni installed the tensioners I failed to look for the left and right markings on the tensioners . If they are in the incorrect places.. like right on left and left on right will that cause any issues like blowing a seal on them. ? I think I have an issue with the pass side chain.. not being tight. I know I'm gonna open it up again to check and or replace them again.. thx
