Exactly

Default Gryphon Tuner?

Freedom racing and tool had the perfect timing kit (ford and cloyes parts for less than $300).
Were do you find the tuner?

Default Lockouts and the ratchet style tensioners...

I'm searching for the same answer austinlabdog...

I'm installing the lockouts for the phasers. So basically turning my 3valve 5.4 into a 2valve. The local Ford dealer tech suggested I install the ratcheting style tensioners as opposed to the stock 'floating' tensioners.
Great idea. Parts man there was supposed to call back....waiting...
So I'm going to order the Cloves chain/tensioner/guide complete kitchen sink kit... As soon as I find out which ratchet style kit will fit onto my '05 Ford.

THANKS!

I haven't installed the cast iron tensioners on my truck yet, so I can't speak from direct experience, but yes, the cast iron tensioners will fit our trucks.

I am planning to order them in the next couple of days along with everything else I need to do the timing set. From what I have learned, the 5.4L 2v and 3v blocks are identical and the cast iron tensioners will fit our trucks just fine. I haven't found many F150 owners that have used them but it seems to be common with the Mustang guys with the 5.4L 3v, lots of which are putting out crazy horse power numbers.

MMR sell cast iron "UPGRADED" tensioners but they don't list the part number on their website, they do have the Ford logo beside the part which usually indicates that it is an OEM part. They recommend the cast iron version for the 5.4L 3v.

The most recent revision of the cast iron tensioners that I have found are part numbers F6AZ-6L266-CA and F6AZ-6L266-DA and those are the ones I plan to order this week.

Just as a heads up, these tensioners do not have any gaskets or seals. Some rare applications used a metal mounting plate between the block and the tensioner body but the mounting plate is not used in the vast majority of applications and should not be used for our trucks. These tensioners were designed to be used without any gasket, seal or mouting plate.

Default cast iron tensioners with lockouts

I just recently installed cast iron tensioners and the livernois lockout kit. Truck runs great. 600 miles+ since installation. No need for gasket when using iron tensioners.

Melling bt402 and 403 are the tensioners that i used. Don't use a gasket don't use metal plate and don't use sealant. Direct bolt on.

just got my truck back after having the cam shaft bank 2 sensor, both VCT solenoids and all spark plugs changed out.
truck isnt doing that mad loud rattle at low revs and is around 90% running ok but
when i had it on cruise control it felt like the engine was 'surging' ever so slightly
every now and then.
also when i pulled onto my driveway it did seem to have a sort of low rev rattle but dint last too long.

has my timing gone out and jumped a cog?

my fuel ecomony is sooooooooooooo much better than it was before,if thats any help

one thing i will add is the only code the truck has thrown was the camshaft sensor.

It will still be a 3 valve. Phaser will not advance or retard the camshaft with the lockout.
