I spent too much money to have this issue so need to get to the bottom of it. He is saying that there is low/no oil pressure right at startup then builds up fine.
Is there a chance that one of the new tensioners he says he put on has a bad seal out of the box? He is basically saying I might need a new engine at this point and throwing in the towel. I guess there is always the chance that he did not even replace the tensioners. I wish I had the time to do this work myself but it's just not possible.

Thanks upfront for any advice/input you guys can offer.
Are you using an good oil filter like motorcraft with an anti-drainback valve? Even after the repair, my truck will do this for about 1/2 a second if it has sat for awhile. My advice to you if everything else is good is maybe try 5W-30 oil and prime the oil pressure before you start your truck if its been sitting for a couple days

If that saves you $1k from tearing into the engine again that would be worth it to me.

Hold the has pedal to the floor while you crank the engine. This shuts off the fuel.

I have a 2004 screw fx4 which I purchased used recently noticed a ticking sound while idling after driving for awhile. My question is there any way to eliminate or to narrow it down to one or the other.

Default Phasers

Using the lockout kit you have to mark the cam phasers and the chain.
What do you do if your putting on new cam phasers???
This seems like a critical step to get right.

It's also the tensioner it's self, once the plunger is collapsed lack of oil to top end

Default 1 last time

ok guys, I just want to ask the forum one last time because I need to get this right the first time. 2007 FX2 Miles are 50k; My problem is the engine gets up to temp and then the idle retarding starts. My understanding is this is the cam phaser acting up. Only got a code 1 time and it indicated 1 bank. Never threw a code again but the problem persists.
My plan:
  1. Lockout kit
  2. Change the defective spark plugs while in there
  3. Apply the new tune
Is this a reasonable plan of action? And do you guys think this has a chance of fixing the idle retarded issue? I'm looking at at least $1000. This is $$$ I cannot waste. In any event at least the lockout will be in there. Please advise.

Check your oil pressure before you start spending money.

Yeah i'm using a motocraft and same issues. it will actually rattle pretty good still after only sitting about 20 minutes. what else could be the blame for a tensioner leaking down?

Sounds like one of your new tensioners is bad, or was installed improperly (over or under torqued)
