in the picture, the rupture is in the top left corner. I think the gasket just isn't enough, and the weakest point eventually fails. Once it goes, all pressure behind it drops. My phasers looked fine on the outside. But when I took one apart, there were 3 little pins that had bent and wolloed out the holes they were installed in.

That is exactly what BOTH of my tensioners looked like, except one was blown out in TWO spots.

I agree with the theory that these tensioners blow out causing a low oil pressure condition on the top end that lead to the symptoms we find with the phasers.

However, I can't ignore the fact that Ford has updated the Phaser AND vct solenoid parts since the 2004 models.

For those of you shopping for parts, I bought this:

http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...t%20%7C%20eBay

I confirmed this ebay kit for $579 includes the most current phaser part numbers and all OEM parts.

Plus, I found the newer VCT selenoids on ebay for about $35 each (free shipping), found the victor reinz valve cover gasket set on ebay as well. Don't forget to get the VCT solenoid seals too, as I did destroy mine upon removal like everyone else does.

Modular Motorsports has the complete Ford timing kit for $499. That's all Ford parts.

http://www.modularmotorsportsracing....ile_detect.htm

Click on Products, Modular Engine Components, and then Timing components. All you need after that is a gasket set. I recommend Fel-Pro.

I think they revised the VCT'S to reduce the pressure on the tensioner seal to help it out. That's just my hypothesis though, and I have no way to test it. Some people have done the same thing by simply adding a few washers in the bottom of the VCT'S.

Great find, that has everything you could want except the front timing cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and VCT solenoids and VCT solenoid seals. Even so, that's a good deal at $499.

Combine it with the Fel-Pro gasket kit and you can also replace the VCT valve body gaskets.

What do the Valve covers run?

Well I am done, I have decided and have ordered the lock outs and will be installing them this weekend if all goes good. I tested the oil pressure and At low hot idle i was at 20-22 psi and hot was at 60-65 psi. Seeing how tough it is to remove the oil pan and check the pick up screens I am going to op for the lock outs and in the future think about my screens. At 20-22 psi I don't think I am in that bad of shape with the oil pressure. all the other parts were replace with in the last couple of years so should be good to go!!!

Default Intermittent knocking and shaking after stopping in drive

Let me begin,
2007 F150 FX2; At 43k miles this all started after my battery went dead. I have been pretty easy on this truck except the occasional WOT. I bought it brand new in 2008 so you see 6 years and only 50k at his point. It is now happening more often and ticking me off. I have read most of the threads and determined I will not be going to Ford. Between the crappy spark plugs and now this I think I have been a victim of fraud.
Anyway, I can drive 10 miles home from work and when I pull into the driveway making a left hand turn (seems to happen mostly with the wheel turned to the left in reverse but now in drive as well) the oil gauge doesn't move but RPMs drop way off and the "situation" starts. As others have stated I can shut the truck off and all is fine when started again for the most part. My concern is all the racket that it makes cannot be good for the inside of the engine.
I want this fixed before real damage takes place. After all the threads on this I now see this lockout kit. http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...epair-Kit.html
Is this going to help my situation? I don't really here any chain rattle or anything it is the retarding that concerns me. My under standing is if I'm locked in full advance then this retarded situation should not happen correct?
