Ran for about 5 seconds and sputtered to death.

Check gauges light comes on, as well as flashing engine light, but no codes on either my crappy iPhone OBDII scanner or my Diablo Sport.

Anybody got any ideas?
Crank and cam sensors hooked back up?

Went through basic troubleshooting and disconnected the MAF sensor. Cranked right up and is running like a charm.

Going to pick a new one up as soon as stuff opens up around here.

What an adventure this truck is

Went back last night to change the passenger VCT. Broke a valve cover bolt but luckily it is on top and up front so I can drill and EZOut that sucker. Just had to raise and support the valve cover while I did it instead of completely removing it.

Definitely doesn't change my mind about wanting to get rid of this thing, but for what it's worth the truck runs like an animal now.

I actually have throttle response, idles smoothly, seems like it shifts much smoother too.

Too bad this truck has been too much of a headache for me to want to keep it. Hopefully someone else will be happy with it.

Thanks to everyone on here for the help.

Hi all, looking at doing this for my 2004 f150.
just wondering if this is a good kit:

or:

do I need the cam shaft gears?
would be nice to put in a new water pump and oil pump while I am in there.
any suggestions would be appreciated!

Either it is stolen or used. How could it be all timing components to include the phasers and the oil pump? 1 phaser cost me what that whole kit did.

That is not for the 5.4 either.

I don't know if it BS or not but it seems too good to be true.

That looks like a good deal, it does not have the phasers.
If I were you I wouldn't try to save a couple hundred bucks and risk having to do the job more than once.

Just get this.... http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=271340466627
I used the same one and it seems to be all factory parts and worth the price.
