I'll scan in the connector pinout tonight.
The connector had power, turn on/activate, sub+ and sub- ( a mono signal)
The pin out shows the color code too.

I have a pair of good used 1.9 liter heads for that VW. Should you remove the head of the suspect valve anytime soon, send me a PM. I'll gladly help out a fellow VW vanagon stay on the road by sending off heads.

Man I've looked everywhere, and cannot find the connector yet. I pulled the weather stripping off around the driver's side rear door and looked in at the wiring harness and don't see it splitting off where the book shows it should, I guess I am just out of luck. Sucks since my subwoofer I bought came in today.

You also need to pull your radio and see if it's compatible with the factory sub. Mine has three connector slots in the back. One for the main harness, one for the sub and the other is for the aux input, which I have my Ipod hooked up to. See what you have back there.

I'm pretty sure I seen a site that sells oem connectors... I just can't remember who it was. I would start searching google.

thanks will do that, I know it has the aux, there is an 1/8" jack on the corner of the tray above the radio.

Well dug a little more tonight. I pulled the radio, and the subwoofer connect is there, so it must be back under the seat somewhere. The bad news for me is the radio doesn't have a place to plug in the connector. :-(

Did you look under the carpet near/around the center console, or in the area for it if you don't have one. You can pick up an Audiophile radio pretty cheap the sell yours to recoup some money back.

Haven't dug around the center console yet I think I will hook up my fox/hound wire tracer to the connector in front and scan around in back.
It puts a signal on a wire and when you get close to the wire with the receiver it starts beeping.
