Me too! A whine coming from close to radiator, fan, and pulleys.. Was thinking a belt or pulley.. Annoying when you leave truck running and walk away...

Another possibility is the water pump going out.

Good idea!
Which one is the water pump? Driver side bottom? Or is that power steering?

Water pump is top-center....it's the smooth bowl pulley with four smaller bolts holding it on the water-pump shaft.

If you still have the whining its the bearings in the alternator. You can have new ones installed for about 40 bucks from a reputable rebuilder. Had this same issue.

Don't completely rule out the pulley on the ac compressor clutch. Just finished replacing mine a couple hours ago. Mine whined loud enough that my family could hear me pulling up in the drive way. It whined when the ac was off and on. It would only change pitch for a second when the clutch engaged.
You can check it by taking off the belt. Make sure your ac is off so the clutch disengages. Then spin the pulley by hand. If it feels and sounds gritty then it is bad.

Still have it, sounds like its coming from the bottom of the front of the engine, by the tensioner and air conditioning.

I had the same noise. I had one bad pulley and the power steering pump was going out. I didn't have any issues with the steering that went along with the wine so I didn't even think that it could be the pump. I had the pulley and the pump replaced and the wine was gone. Thank goodness because it was quite embarrassing.
