Exclamation 2007 5.4 loss of power..bad MPG

2007 f150 5.4 4wheel 80k
Last week i went through the car wash and after about three miles it started to run rough and the check engine light came on then it just died and would not start. I let it sit thinking something got wet from the wash. Went back 3 hours later and it started right up like nothing happened with the engine light still on. the next day i pulled the code and it was for the fuel rail pressure sensor. The fuel pressure was within spec so we wiped the code. A few days later the truck started to run a little rough and is getting terrible MPG. About 35 miles to a 1/4 tank. Hoping someone might have an idea what could be wrong. Any Info would be very appreciated!

That was my first thought too. Do a search on this forum for that. Basically remove your spare tire and the FPDM will be there on the frame rail. Pull it off and inspect it.

Really no need for an inspection. You've had the classic symptoms of a bad FPDM. When you attempt to pull it off it's going to fall apart. Cross your fingers, go get one, and change it.

Thats awesome news! Glad you got it back up and running. Much better then a $500 trip to the dealer. I did mine out just to be sure that it was alright. Actually mine was a bit corroded but not bad. I ordered the replacement anyway, just in case and put it on.

Aww the spark plugs. For me it was easy as I searched out these trucks and had the spark plugs changed as part of the deal when I bought my truck last spring.

People have been finding some good local shops and even dealers that do a lot of these trucks and offer great prices. I would call around and call around and call around. Ask people that you know that have these trucks. Then follow the leads. Or search it out and do the work yourself

Either way best of luck to you. In my opinion keeping up on the maint is the best thing you can do for a vehicle. Plus it makes it feel like a new truck again

Is bad fuel milage a sign of the FPDM going bad? Or was it the fact his truck shut off?
