Default f150 models vs towing cap

So I was bored and looking at new f150 for my wishlist. Well actually a buddy and I was discussing the new svt last night. Surprised that it came with a 6.2l and the fx4 which got me looking at the towing and payload. lets see if I can cart this out. They all had the same tranny 6 speed with tow-haul and same towing package and all 4x4

model cab bed engine axle wheels payload towing
XL supercab 8' 5.4 3.73 limited 17 2,340 11,000
fx4 supercab 6' 1/2" 5.4 3.73 locking 18 1,680 9,700
svt supercab 5' 1/2" 6.2 4.10 locking 18 950 6,000
king supercrew 5' 1/2 5.4 3.73 limited 18 1,560 11,300

Is it really only the axle that makes the difference? Does a limited really give you a 2,000 towing change from a locking? If thats the case I would love to get an fx4 with a limited. And why does the 6.2 suck so damn bad?

the raptor has a lower towing capacity because of the suspension it has, not because it has the 6.2 in it. its built for offroad performance, not towing. suspension, brakes, axle gear ratio, vehicle weight and cab configuration have more to do with how much a truck can carry/ tow than what motor is in it.

The XL/XLT super cabs with the 8-foot bed have the heavy duty payload package which is a suspension package that gives them the added capacity. Not sure if this is still the case, but that package used to come with 4.10 gears not 3.73's.
