No 2 piece plug troubles, or lord forbid this problem!!
I turn all my trucks over by around 65k, I think I have a good plan now for sure!!
Thanks for setting me straight on phasers.
A safe bet is getting an 08 5.4.... All I had was a manifold leak I thought my tick was phasers till I was told it's been resolved for 08's. Then I figured injectors, resolved again. Even the plugs were resolved for 08's. Everything was resolved other than the manifold leak issue...

Well I have an 04 with the same exact sound. I've had this sound for over 40K miles with no issue. I did replace VCT solenoids and made no difference. I think most here will agree that the sound is most pronounced in the passanger side wheel well. What are the odds of passanger side phasers being the only ones with problems? Doubtful. I've also seen several posts about problems with passanger side exhaust manifold and wonder if this may be the cause of what most of us are hearing. One last thing, I've heard on more than one occassion that is your phasers go so does your engine, in the trash. Can someone elaborate on how exactly phaser failure equals throw engine away? I ask because I've owned a couple of cars with interference engines that is you lose the timing belt or chain skips you end up with bent valves not bent connecting rods, thus you perform a head job and you're back on the road.

This is my understanding also. It cause your engine to get out of time.

It would make sense that they get this engine right, just before they retire it.....

Hey Rammer, Kinda the same question, How long have you let it run like that??
I didn't run it very long being that the warranty was almost up. After they fixed that I was still hearing wierd noises and truck would start chugging and knocking after warm when coming to a stop. I brought it back to them and they ended up replacing the timing chain and tensioners. They had told me that the timing chain was really stretched out and if it failed it would of caused severe internal damage.

Sounds to me like it's the passenger side Exhaust gasket. If you listen to the video the sound is much louder on the passenger side.
