Exhaust tip/exit opinions... no muffler questions ive got that covered!
Ok so I drove down to South Carolina for the weekend and I got 150 miles into the trip heard a pop noise thought nothin of it and 250 miles pulled over for some food and pass. Side exhaust tip looked a little ..... Low... The bracket the shop used was really thin and a little rusted and snapped so I secured it and carried on. It had duals when I got it.
Now the muffler is a flowmaster 40 series I believe. That's what it sounds like at least. It's a single in and single out muffler and they put a Y on it and the duals are out back pointing straight on both sides.
My thoughts/questions should I have bracket taken care of and run with it or run a larger than stock, pipe in the stock location? I like the look of duals angled out the back corners of trucks but around here everybody has them and I just don't think ill like that lol and when looking for a truck I planned on running a muffler with single out, in stock location anyway..
Excuse any errors, I'm using my phone...

Oh this is on the 2005 and I know some ppl talk about back pressure and I didn't know if this particular muffler (Si/so) took back pressure out of the equation or if gettin rid of the duals will help.....?
This was the first long trip in the truck (730 miles one way) and man did I love it!!

I have a si/do magnaflow and put them both out in stock location like the raptors or super dutys, love it. I have had them straight out under the bumper....sucked when you are hooking up the trailer, which i did alot of, then i angled them out the corners (before everybody and thier brother was doing it around here) liked it but in the winter i couldn't see good when backing up...the exhaust was a big white cloud blocking vision from my mirrors. I even had them exit in front of the wheels on another truck, but it was a reg cab and it got a little noisy on long rides
the best i have had is what i got now

Back pressure will be fine. No worries there. Otto will chime in here at some point and link his myths about back pressure thread. I have si/so in stock location and that is my preferred exit.
