Default Exhaust Suggestions

I'm in the process of having a roll pan installed and would like to finish up my rear end with switching out the factory exhaust with something more aggressive and loud, but not something I am going to want to remove due to drone and crackling. I'm a fan of aggressive and deep exhaust.

I'm not a fan of exhaust tips with roll pans or side exit exhausts so I am leaning towards dumping the exhaust with a turndown tip. The uncertainty comes with what kind of muffler and where I want to dump it... at the muffler? Or should I run it over the rear axle?

1. Would you recommend dumping at the muffler? Or after the rear axle?

2. SI/SO or SI/DO?

3. What kind of muffler (leaning towards Magnaflow)?

BORLA all the way! I just got done installing the 140137 catback kit last night and it fit like a glove and haven't noticed any drone at all. I read alot of forums about people having trouble with this exhaust system, however i think the worst part was getting the old system off. Also, I don't know how loud you want but I think the Borla system is just right! Got a killer deal at autoanything.com right before christmas. Yes, its not cheap but i think its that way for a reason. I've bought cheaper stuff in the past and come to find out later why it was so cheap. I don't think you'll be regretting the borla system! The sound is AMAZING!

I wouldn't recommend dumping the exhaust right off the muffler. If this is your daily driver (which I'm assuming is) when you're at idle, all that exhaust is going to collect under your truck and it's going to want to go somewhere... up... into your cab... If you are going to dump it, I would suggest doing it as close to the rear bumper as possible. Borla does make a nice sounding exhaust for your truck. Magnaflow seems to be pretty popular, and one of my favorite. Another cheaper alternative to look into is MBRP. I just ordered their cat back and am looking forward to getting it on my truck. Check them out on Youtube, they sound almost exactly like the Magnaflow.

Magnaflow. Just put a catback on my FX4 and have had a dual exhaust catback on my '03 Mustang GT for a few years and love it. Wouldn't buy anything else.

I would go hidden exhaust if you don't like the look of pipes. Here's a couple pictures of a hidden style. I would go after the axle to maintain velocity. Single or dual is your choice, si/so will sound better than a si/do. Borla or 14" Magnaflow will sound deep and loud but not stupid loud.

Nicest exhaust I have seen on a 150. Very fitting for the baddest factory F-150 ever built....

I love my Dynomax VT muffler! It has a Power Valve in it loaded on a spring, that u can get in different spring rates for smaller or larger than 4.0L motors, it restricts the gas at low rpm and idle to keep it quite and drone free but opens up when you romp on it. The muffler is small and almost straight through so it doesn't do much sound dampening when that power valve opens up.

Otto, how much did that cost you? Best set-up I've seen and exactly what I'm looking for.
