So what does everyone recommend to doing tranny fluid at 90k? Not sure if it's been cleaned- easy to find out. If the plug isn't there should I go for a flush? If it is- just new filter and oil to top back off? What filters do you guys prefer? Motorcraft? What about tranny fluid? Re use stock gasket?

just for curiosities sake who all tows with the OD on? Lots of the old boys I run with (ie my Dad) have always told me that you shouldn't tow with the OD on if you can help it. I'm at 115 000kms on my F150 and I tow roughly 6500lbs 2 to 4 times a week in hilly terrain and I'm problem free so far. My Dad has 201 000kms (roughly 120000 miles) on his 04 XLT truck and he's towed quite a bit, especially when we used to race, and he's been trouble free so far. Its funny though comparing my truck to Dad's, we've worn similar parts out, just mine wear out way faster (brakes, tires etc.)

Whats with Dad's anyways? They always seem to know their stuff!

I never do, dad told me the same thing, and sure enough the manual says the same thing. I assume you learned to drive from your dad as well.

I tow in od all the time. I have a scangauge and watch the temp. I have never seen it above 195° F... and that was for a short time. all the shifting makes it get hotter. Mine runs about 145°-155° most of the time not towing and about +15° towing.

Well I shouldn't say I tow without the OD every single time, but for the most part, I do my best to remember to turn it off. That should cover a future excuse if my transmission pukes lol.
