Unhappy For everyone approachin 100k...

Be prepared for your tranny to die. Mine kicked the bucket sunday afternoon and is gunna be around $1400. The guy doin it said that the ford trannys usually last untill about 100k before they go out. So be prepared...

Yeah but $1400 is alot when you just spent $800 on tires that are coming in while your truck is broke...and you're in high school.

I have 86000 km on mine and still going strong. Was there any warning to you guys or did it just fail?? I have powertrain warranty from ford until 166000, so if I am lucky it will fail at 165000.

are you all beating the **** out of your trucks? I have a 2005 with 252,000 miles. changed every fluid at every single interval. Drove it nice and easy. Did some light towing. Never a single major issue except a coil pack died last week. It has the 4.6.

mine went out at 80k only a week and 2k after I bought it I'm the second owner and an older guy had it before me and lets just say he could barely see over the wheel so i know he didn't beat on it. but i only had to pay $100 warranty deductible.

Honestly I dont drive it as nicely as I could have. I mud with it and I used to street race it back in high school. My Dad used to tow a 22ft enclosed trailer behind it for 35K and half the time the trailer was always connected for his business. It has taken everything that has been thrown at it and in no way am I disappointed. It just seems like alot of the trannys go out around 80-100K.

When it did go out it was all of a sudden and the only gear that went was overdrive so I still had 1-4. I just knew something was wrong so I had it rebuilt.

XLT4x4 - Im in college so I know the feeling and my tires are $1400 but since I have a steady job now I can pay for the 2 or 3 things that have gone wrong with it over 100K, but its totally worth it.

I have to say that I don't fall into yalls category(thank god). I'm 21 yrs old and get told by my wife that I drive like a damn old man. Which is damn fine by me. If I wanted to go fast I would have bought a car. But I have to agree that this can happen to anyone that has a tranny under there hood. I'll deff make sure to keep some mulah in my acct so I'm prepared for something like this. I just hope it doesn't interfere with my money I have set for my new tires, gears, and lift.
