save yourself some money and headache and try unplugging the solenoids. If the VCT system is to blame that’ll tell you. Personally I think it’s just how low these motors idle, and how long the stroke is just makes it vibrate. At least with my truck. I hope you find something though. Kind of annoying having the truck rattle like it does all the time lol

Unplugging the solenoids didn’t change idle at all. I unplugged them when it was warm didn’t do a thing. Might have a vacuum leak or something?

could be, but that usually presents itself with lack of power. I’ve been doing some reading, and I’m gonna try 5w30 synthetic on my next oil change and see if that helps cut down on phaser noise, and possibly oscillation making the truck rattle

We have a pretty good solution for these vehicles, alot of the problems with these 5.4L trucks is the cam phasers which we provide our cam phaser lockout kit that is 100% carb approved and is a permanent fix for these pesky cam phasers. If left too long this can cause serious damage to these vehicles and can ruin the engine. We have several customers with high 100k-low 200k mileage on these engines with the lockout kits installed and have had nothing but great feedback on this product! If interested feel free to give me a call at 313-561-5500 extension 104 or ask for cody!
