It’s like a uncomfortable idle, not a slight noticeable rough idle it’s noticeable, also have this popping from the exhaust when I hold the rpms constant.

Not sure about the cat, don’t think so because truck has tons of power. Not injectors because they are all brand new oem remanufactured. Stilll the Idle quality didn’t change with new injectors. Coils, plugs, maf and throttle body and air filter are clean, did idle relearn also. All new oem timing components except vct solenoids.

VCT solenoids can cause funky running conditions. If the screens are collapsed/clogged, or they're stuck open.

I took out the pass side solenoid because it was the easiest to get to and it looked really good. Screens weren’t blocked or torn and in all it looked really good. Not sure about the drivers side. Let’s say I replaced them and it still idled rough, what do I do next, I really can’t think of anything else.

I guess it becomes a matter of define rough. rough as in if your heads on the headrest its annoying, or rough as in stuff is rattling off the dashboard. My truck will give me a headache at idle if I lean into the headrest for too long at a light. Brand new motor. These 5.4's are just a pain in the rear plain and simple.

If you want to diagnose the VCT system, unplug the solenoids and start the truck. engine light will be on, but it'll tell you if the VCT system is involved, cause with the solenoids unplugged it essentially locks the phasers.

I’m talking rough as in the whole cab vibrates. You could see the pass side headrest vibrating. You don’t have to put your head into the headrest to feel it vibrate you could feel it in the seat.

i can see my passenger seat vibrate as well. I can feel it though the seat, but it’s only annoying if I have my head on the headrest. I’m really not sure there’s a “fix” for it. Hopefully someone will chime in for the both of us

No check engine light which makes it annoying. I’m going to try vct solenoids.

Same here with the vibration. It's gotten better with new springs and boots but I still feel/see it
