Diagnosis came back as clogged catalytic converters. I asked the tech which ones and he said the two rears as the front two are called resonators. I don't have the $$$ for cats righ now, but I do have the $$$ to cut them out and do the "how to trick that pesky o2 sensor" trick--https://www.f150forum.com/f33/how-trick-pesky-o2-sensor-47908/

I will get on the cutouts tomorrow and let you all know how it worked out. I'm still not sure how that would throw a lean code in bank 2, but at least its something that might work!!!

Very true. I need to contact the dealership again. I can't seem to find any Ford documents that support this.

Federal laws state 8 years or 80000 miles. I'm over 100k. Does anyone know where I can find documentation on Ford emissions warranty?

I did find this for 10 years or 100k miles. Ugh. I'm over that too.

I just checked the same thing today, 8 years 80K I think my cats are going out on my truck too. Guess I will be doing something too. MY cats are giving off that nasty rotten egg smell.

I just have to laugh. So I had the cats cut out on my lunch break. It feels better, but I have not really had a chance to give it a good run through. I can guarantee that I can not hear the pinging anymore. Why you ask? Because without cats, the truck is EFFIN LOUD! TOO loud for me. Granted, I have a dumped flowmaster, I can honestly say I am not happy at all with the volume.

Ugh.

So far so good! The truck runs a million times stronger. Does not feel weak at all! Weird thing is that it is not throwing any codes...even without ANY cats! I am ready to do the O2 sensor trick using the sp non foulers, but with no code, there is no reason to get dirty.

I am now looking for a quiet high flow muffler. The Flowmaster 40 SIDO is just WAY too loud. I would love to get back to stock sound levels if I could.

Did you hollow the cats or just cut them off completely?
