Which engine to buy?
Getting ready to put in a new 5.4 3V in my 08 F150 4x4. 2008 was a split year for engines.
Mine is the earlier version with black boots and 16mm plugs.
Later that year was the change over to brown boots and 12mm plugs.
Can I get the newer style engine? Will there be any fitment issues at all?
I dont want to be getting an 04 engine to go into my 08 since the 04-08 were the same.

My impression is the engine the same, heads are modified late 07 . Yes i would want the later heads. No weird plugs the latest version . Talk to the reman factories for info . I would want improved galleries, improved followers, hv oil pump , maybe metal tensioners .
