Elusive Vibration '08 FX4
I have one of those annoying resonance type vibrations that I am having hell finding.
My truck has 180,000 miles on it, and I just replaced my u-joints thinking that would fix my problem, alas, I was wrong.
Recently, it has developed an odd resonating vibration that starts around 40 mph. Revving the engine, changing gears, throwing into neutral, and tapping the brakes have not made any changes. This vibration is akin to sitting at a stoplight next to a compact car with 4 18" subwoofers belting out a solid, unvarying deep pitched bass note. The truck does not actually shake (hope that makes sense)
After countless hours of fruitless searching underneath for anything that could be causing it, I am at a total loss... The only areas that I can see any type of seepage is on and around the front gearbox. But again, I am not knowledgeable enough to diagnose on my own.
Does this sound familiar to anyone, and what was the cause of your particular issue?
