Electrical problem with windows
I have a 2004 F150 FX4. A couple of weeks ago the windows quit rolling up and down on any switch. I have made sure the window lock out button is not turned on. I have done the following:
1. Checked the 30 amp circuit breaker and it is good.
2. Check the resistance of the other plugs on the master switch. All show resistance using an ohm meter except for the window plug, which is blue. All other buttons on the master switch works (door lock and power mirrors).
When I push any window button on the main switch the defog light comes on as well as if I have the left turn signal on it will quit flashing on the mirror. I've tried another master switch but had the same results all the buttons worked except for the windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking there is a broken wire or a wire grounding out somewhere.
Thanks,
Jason

Nice find. That is starting to become a more common problem for our trucks as they age. Some are now pushing 10 years and although there are older cars out there that still work fine I think that we are only going to have more problems with the wiring going into the doors.
Are you getting the strange things happening such as when you push the window switch, the defrost light comes on for the mirrors? If so, the problem could be a cut ground wire in the wiring boot between the drivers door and the body of the truck. Good luck!
