Default Here again there is enough info to kill this mod

I would love to get rid of the stock fan and shroud for easy access to the front of the engine . But reliability in a hot climate is not there . A single fan would not do for me . A single controller would also be out .
The question of the alternator being able to handle another 70 amps gets real expensive .
That Ron Francis AR99 controller has some bad failure reviews . It is nice that the temp sensor comes from the lug on a engine bolt rather than a probe jammed in the radiator . That exposed open controller would not be suitable in the hot engine compartment not to mention liquids . Electronics can't take heat, the engine is running at 200 f, most electronics can't take 130f .
If I even tried it I would mount them inside out of any sun . That's not easy to come up with .
If you add the alternator cost ,2 controllers and the ford 2010 dual fans modified with mount ,I'm sure we are way north of $600. Not doable to risk blowing a head gasket .
Of course if you live in a cold climate and don't tow much it may not be so bad . Here in fl we run the ac most days .
I will have to wait for a new truck designed for this . Just my 2 cents .

What? Use the fan from 12th gen and painless fan controller. There's write ups, how to's, posts and even videos of it already done all over.

Default Yes I know about the painless controller and the twin ford fans

I was leaning that way , but some painless failure reports plus the high cost put me off . So I would use two painless controllers one for each fan . But the additional 70 amps and changing the alternator is a problem . Messing with the alternator seems to set a pcm failure on many alternators as they don't do the signal to the pcm correctly . So anyway still way north of $600.
I agree there is a nice write up on using twin ford fans .
Reliability is my main worry .

In all my research on e-fans I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention anything about upgrading the alternator. Regardless, I do not have the stock alternator and have no complaints about my e-fan swap with painless controller.

I have a question. On my 08 4.6 screw, I installed electric fans and removed the electronic fan clutch. I used the painless 2 fan kit. Kit worked fine, but the engine computer kept failing with transmission codes. Apparently it gets a feed from the fan clutch to the ecm, and matches up speed with the trans output. I put the clutch and fan back on, and the transmission problems went away. I modified the fan shroud, and am running the electrics and mechanical fan currently until I solve this. Anyone else run into this, and what did you do to solve it. The only mention I saw here was a question asked about what to do with the old fan clutch, that wasn't answered. Sorry for the necro thread, but this seemed a good place to put this.

Anyone like to weigh in on this? I am wondering if I can take the fan off and run just the clutch with the electric fans?

scobar, did you leave on the fan clutch with the fan removed from it? I am getting ready to replace the fans I put on first with the navigator fan set.
